Understanding a Kundli
A Kundli is a chart prepared from the date, time and place of birth. The twelve houses organize areas of life; planets and signs add layers of traditional interpretation. Start by checking the birth details. Small timing errors can affect the ascendant and house placement. Reading one house or one planet in isolation misses the context of the whole chart.
Moon Sign, Sun Sign & Lagna
The Sun sign relates to the Sun’s position, the Moon sign to the Moon’s position, and the Lagna to the sign rising on the eastern horizon. They are different reference points. Vedic readings commonly use a sidereal zodiac. A Western tropical Sun-sign label therefore need not match a Vedic placement. For a personal reading, provide an accurate birth time and place rather than relying only on a date range.
Mulank & Bhagyank
Mulank reduces the day of birth; Bhagyank reduces the digits of the full birth date. For 23 January 1990, Mulank is 2 + 3 = 5 and Bhagyank is 2 + 3 + 0 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7. Our birth calculator uses digits 1–9 and does not preserve master numbers. These are traditional symbolic interpretations, not evidence-based personality assessments.
Preparing for a Consultation
Write down two or three clear questions. Collect the best available birth date, time and place, and say when any detail is uncertain. Ask what is included, how long the session lasts, what it costs and whether follow-up is included. Keep private documents and account details out of an initial enquiry. Leave with an understanding of the reasoning and practical choices, rather than a promise of a fixed outcome.
